The summer season for The Oval+ and public programming in LOVE Park are cancelled for 2020. Fairmount Park Conservancy and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation came to this decision in accordance with the guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the Public Health Department of the City of Philadelphia to mitigate community spread of COVID-19.
Although we cannot come together at The Oval+ or LOVE Park this summer, there are many ways to stay safe and healthy in Philly parks in this time of need:
- Explore the unknown in Fairmount Park: The Conservancy will offer free virtual programming in East and West Fairmount Park, including tours of the park’s lesser-explored natural areas. Sign up for emails from the Conservancy to stay up to date.
- Enjoy PlayStreets: Each summer, hundreds of small, one-way, residential streets throughout the City temporarily close to vehicle traffic to give children a safe place to pick up a free, nutritious meal. The 50+-year-old Playstreets program is run by Parks & Rec. Learn more.
- Stay cool at spraygrounds: Spraygrounds will be open on a rolling basis starting July 6. Spraygrounds will be staffed, and restricted to 25 people remaining at least 6 feet apart. Spraygrounds will have evening and weekend hours. Learn more.
- Have fun at playgrounds: Playgrounds are open for children and their caregivers under the City’s Safer-at-Home Order. Playground equipment may be reserved for campers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, starting July 6. Learn more.
