Drew began his career as a classroom Social Studies teacher and athletics coach in various Philadelphia public, charter, and alternative school settings, always seeking to get students out of the classroom and engaging with nature, through gardening electives, outdoor/hiking clubs, and overnight camping on the Appalachian Trail.  In 2014 he began serving with PowerCorpsPHL, where he was able to combine his passion for engaging young people with Philadelphia parks as the classroom, and where he was formally introduced to theory and techniques of urban land management and restoration.  He was instantly hooked and has been pursuing knowledge and best practices since, including starting and running his own family land care business, and most recently coordinating land stewardship at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education.

Drew has a Master’s Degree in Education from Temple University, is an ISA Certified Arborist, and an Accredited Organic Land Care Professional with the Northeast Organic Farmers Association (NOFA).

He is super excited to be joining Fairmount Park Conservancy in 2021 after partnering with the organization in different capacities for many years. In his free time he enjoys listening to records, reading, hiking and camping with his family, playing futsal (and really all forms of athletics), improvising on musical expressions with friends, and exploring the great City of Philadelphia and its surrounding region.  He is thrilled to be able to put his energy towards managing, restoring, and rehabilitating Philly’s amazing natural lands, working to create more equitable access to parks throughout the city, as well as engaging with the public on the importance, health, and joy of interacting with and investing in these spaces.

Drew’s favorite Philly park is FDR Park in South Philly.
