We Walk PHL seeks to promote positive health outcomes, increase use of Philadelphia’s park system, and create opportunities for people to pursue fitness goals while meeting their neighbors.
We Walk PHL is a free walking group that meets several times per week at Hunting Park, FDR Park, and East Fairmount Park, and launched the week of June 12th, 2017. The regular season will be wrapping up in mid-October. This pilot program is a partnership between Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Philly Powered, and the Health Promotion Council. Philadelphia Parks & Recreation staff lead the walking groups with support from community walking group leaders, following training via the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease program.
