5 great reasons to walk or run in the virtual Boxers’ Trail 5k!

by Sara Hirschler on August 25, 2020

This year, the 9th annual Boxers’ Trail 5K is going virtual! Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate in the race anytime from September 19-26, 2020.

For the virtual race, we’re giving you 5 very compelling reasons to join us for what has become an amazing community tradition in East Fairmount Park.

  1. Help give back. Proceeds from the Boxers’ Trail 5K benefit East Fairmount Park and Mander Playground’s youth programs
  2. Do it for the T-shirt. You will get a souvenir t-shirt with your registration while supplies last.
  3. Run like a champ! Run the trail that boxing legends including Champion Boxer Joe Frazier used to train. You can even get inspired by Smokin’ Joe and other local boxing legends at the new-and-improved Boxers’ Trail Gateway at Dauphin and Greenland Drives.
  4. Beat the crowds. Kelly Drive gets crowded. Discover this beautiful, shaded alternative.
  5. Take the challenge! The Boxers’ Trail is an all-terrain trail – whether you’re walking or running the 5k, it’s sure to get your heart pumping

Register for the virtual race here. This event is $20. Walkers and runners of all ages and abilities are welcome. Connect with us at PPRstewardship@phila.gov for discount info.
