Spring events are sprouting in Philly parks!

We’re officially counting down the weeks to peak cherry blossom bloom in Philadelphia, which means spring is just around the corner! 

As the days get longer and warmer, now is a great time to plan your next park outing. Every spring, Fairmount Park Conservancy organizes a wide range of events with something for everybody. Like to roll up your sleeves? Come to a volunteer day! More of a cinephile? Join us at a free outdoor movie screening! 

We’ve got hikes, guided walks, yoga, and much more coming up this spring: 

 

Guided Hikes

Trails are the best way to experience Fairmount Park’s wooded landscapes. Our guided hikes will help you explore the park’s geography, history, and natural environment – even at night!

Park after Dark: Moonwalk + Stargazing Party

Yoga Classes

Ready to strike a pose? Join the Conservancy and Tula Yoga in the green fields of East Fairmount Park for a series of free outdoor yoga classes. All levels of experience are welcome. (Free)

Volunteer Days

Fairmount Park Conservancy’s volunteer program is an important part of our work to keep parks healthy and resilient. Did you know that volunteering is also good for your health? It’s a win-win! 

This spring, the Conservancy has organized a series of volunteer days in West Fairmount Park. Project sites range from rain gardens to lakes and wooded trails. All tools, including gloves, are provided!  (Free)

Love Your Park

Save the date: Love Your Park Week returns May 10-18! In partnership with the Conservancy and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, over 100 Park Friends groups across the city are hosting volunteer cleanups and need help with cleaning up and preparing for the busy spring and summer seasons. (Free) 

Volunteer registration opens on Wednesday, April 2 at loveyourpark.org.

 

Walking Tours

For those who like to learn on the go, guided walks are a great way to discover our parks’ natural and historic treasures. The Conservancy partners with local experts to showcase the landmarks and stories that make our park system so special.

We Walk PHL

We Walk PHL is a network of free walking groups, co-led by local volunteers, at public parks throughout Philadelphia. The spring 2025 walking season, which runs May 1 through June 30, provides opportunities to join free weekly walks to promote the health benefits of walking in nature while building stronger relationships among neighbors.

Outdoor Movies

You pack the snacks, we’ll provide the cinema! Friday Flicks at the Fountain will return to West Fairmount Park’s Centennial District in May. These events are free, open to all ages, and take place at the John Welsh Fountain in front of the Please Touch Museum. Each event will have a pre-movie activity for kids. We’ll announce the family-friendly film titles later this spring, but in the meantime save these dates:

  • Friday, May 2 | 7:30 – 10:30 PM, movie starts around 8:00 PM
  • Friday, May 9 | 7:30 – 10:30 PM, movie starts around 8:00 PM

 

Run for Philly Parks 

Did you miss out on the Broad Street Run lottery? There’s still time to get out there and train for the 10-mile race on Sunday, May 4 – and we’ve got bibs! Get a guaranteed bib and other perks when you join Fairmount Park Conservancy’s Charity Team and help raise funds for Philly’s parks. Learn more & join our team.
