The Conservancy is in the process of a multi-year focus in East and West Fairmount Park, beginning with the completion and unveiling of The New Fairmount Park – a community-driven revitalization plan created with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Penn Praxis that offers bold, creative and tangible solutions for challenges facing East and West Fairmount Park that will result in greater accessibility and new or improved amenities throughout the park.

In West Park, the Conservancy has begun the design phase of a new recreational space along the Parkside Avenue edge that will more effectively connect West Parkside residents to the park and increase visitor usage of the park between the Please Touch Museum and the Philadelphia Zoo. In East Park, the Conservancy established the East Fairmount Park Coalition – a coalition of more than 30 organizations based in East Park/Strawberry Mansion that serves the interests of the larger community. The Coalition is leading efforts to install a new sprayground and learning landscape at Mander Recreation Center, and has begun to formalize a half-mile trail along Randolph Creek that will connect the Strawberry Mansion community more directly to the Schuylkill River Trail and vice versa.
