Highlights from West Park Family Field Day

West Fairmount Park was buzzing with energy last weekend! On Saturday, September 20, kids and families from across Philadelphia gathered at West Fairmount Park for an exciting Family Field Day hosted by Fairmount Park Conservancy along with partners Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Philadelphia Youth Sports Coalition, and Centennial Parkside CDC

Children of all ages had a wide variety of high-energy sports and fitness activities to choose from, thanks to Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, Parkside Saints, and RZ3 Elite Fitness, who led soccer drills, football games, and fun training exercises. YJR Outdoors set up an exciting bike race track on the field and offered hands-on lessons to help kids learn to ride.

Creative fun was also in full swing, with partners like the Please Touch Museum offering interactive craft stations for young artists. To round out the day, We Walk PHL led a community walk through the park, followed by an all-ages, all-levels line dancing class that had everyone on their feet!

The field day also featured a live DJ and exciting prizes from Let’s Rock Recess, as well as free face painting from Splash of Expression and free ice cream from Dre’s Water Ice. And special thanks to Councilmember Jamie Gauthier for joining us!

This event closed out Fairmount Park Conservancy’s first year of a multi-site field day series, which started in FDR Park in June, went to East Fairmount Park in July, and concluded in West Park in September. Keep an eye out for future field days so you can join the fun again next time!
