Highlights from Love Your Park Week 2023

by Fairmount Park Conservancy on May 24, 2023

From May 13th to May 21st, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy hosted Love Your Park Week, a citywide celebration that brought together over 1,200 enthusiastic volunteers to clean up and care for 97 Philly parks!

At the heart of Love Your Park Week are the extraordinary Park Friends Network groups, who organize the events and help to nurture and enhance our local parks year round. With their continued efforts, these groups have reclaimed their local parks as positive spaces in their neighborhoods through years of hard work, dedication, and collaboration.

This spring, Malcolm X Park in West Philadelphia served as the signature site for Love Your Park Week 2023. Volunteers joined Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and the Friends of Malcolm X Park to help prepare the park for the busy spring and summer seasons by weeding, planting flowers, sweeping, raking, picking up trash, and planting trees. Mural Arts Philadelphia also joined the signature site event to celebrate a new series of murals titled “Flight” by artist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh.

Across Philly, volunteers came out to love their park. Check out some photo highlights below!
