The West Park Harvest Festival returned to Parkside on Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21! Celebrating the official start of fall, this free community event featured a hay maze, arts & crafts, music, food, and fun for all ages.
Fairmount Park Conservancy hosted the event at Welsh Fountain, where plans are underway to rehabilitate the fountain and build an enhanced landscape with seating, installations, and spaces for play and relaxation. In the meantime, the Conservancy and Tiny WPA have installed a nearby Pop-Up Play Space, and the Conservancy regularly hosts events and programs to encourage park use.
Fall festivities kicked off on Friday evening with an activity led by Sports Play Patrol, followed by a screening of the 1994 film Little Giants. Beginning Friday, festival attendees could also go through a kid-friendly hay maze built by BrownSprague LLC and Hougar Farms.
The fun resumed Saturday morning with a fresh slate of activities: music and games with Let’s Rock Recess, face painting, pumpkin decorating, origami with Shofuso, flower bouquet building with Botanic Village, mural painting with Manuela Guillen, food trucks, and kids activities with Smith Playground.
While the Harvest Fest is over, autumn adventures are just beginning in West Fairmount Park! Fairmount Park Conservancy is hosting outdoor movie screenings on the first three Fridays in October:
Pre-movie activity at 6:00 p.m., followed by movie screening at 6:45 p.m.
