1400-acres that are home to the Please Touch Museum, the Philadelphia Zoo, the Mann Center for the Performing Arts, the Horticulture Center, Shofuso Japanese House and Garden, Concourse Lake, historic houses, Chamounix Youth Hostel, and much more. The area surrounding Memorial Hall is known as the Centennial District. This is where the 1876 Centennial Exposition was held.

Covering 650 acres that border the eastern edge of the Schuylkill River, East Fairmount Park is home to the famous Schuylkill River Trail and its Boathouse Row, the Philadelphia Art Museum, East Park Reservoir, Smith Memorial Playground, and several historic houses. The acres of the former Lemon Hill estate, acquired by the City of Philadelphia in 1844, formed the basis for today's Fairmount Park.

This park’s recreational trail along the riverbank connects several baseball and soccer fields with opportunities for walking, bicycling, and fishing. Picnic areas, a pier, a gazebo, and a pavilion overlook a small but beautiful tidal wetland preserve that leads to the mouth of the Pennypack Creek. A pair of bald eagles nests in this area. Beginning with a bridge spanning the creek, the Baxter Trail is to be constructed in the fall of 2014/2015. The 2 mile trail will link Pennypack on the Delaware to Pleasant Hill Park to the Baxter Trail.
