Boathouse Row Lights Glow Global for World Cup 2026

Philadelphia is celebrating its role as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with special illumination of the iconic Boathouse Row before and after each of the the soccer matches hosted in Philadelphia!

Thanks to support from the Philadelphia Funder Collaborative for the Semiquincentennial, Fairmount Park Conservancy is programming pre-game lightings featuring the “country colors” of both participating teams, switching to the winning team’s colors when the match concludes. Check out a few light shows from the matches to date:

 

 

The upcoming “country colors” light shows are:

  • Thursday, June 25: Winner of Curaçao vs. Ivory Coast
  • Saturday, June 27: Croatia vs. Ghana (lighting begins at 3 a.m. and ends at 6 a.m.)
  • Saturday, June 27: Winner of Croatia vs. Ghana (begins at sundown)
  • Friday, July 3: Round of 16 competitors
  • Saturday, July 4: Winner of Round of 16 Game 

Funding for this special lighting series comes from The Philadelphia Funder Collaborative for the Semiquincentennial, whose members include: the Connelly Foundation, the William Penn Foundation, the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Neubauer Family Foundation, the Knight Foundation, the Hamilton Family Charitable Trust, and Comcast NBCUniversal. 

Did you know? The Boathouse Row Lights can be booked for special events, holidays, sponsored shows, and individual requests, with fees going directly to the ongoing maintenance of the Boathouse Row lights. Anyone can become a Boathouse Row Lighting Partner to put a special cause in the city’s spotlight, or celebrate a personal milestone like a wedding, anniversary, or gender reveal. Pricing varies for non-profits and private companies and also depends on the complexity and duration of the display.
