Join us for this We Walk PHL Mixer in East Fairmount Park at the beautiful Discovery Center.
We will meet up at the white Discovery Center tent at 9:30 am for welcome and intros then take a walk along the Discovery Center trail.
After the walk we will socialize and participate in Discovery Day activities and resources.
Discovery Day: Canoe and Conservation (10 AM – 4 PM)
Join us for Discovery Day at the Discovery Center for Canoeing and Conservation! This is a joint program offered by Philadelphia Outward Bound School (POBS) and Audubon Mid-Atlantic (AMA).
- POBS will offer instruction in basic paddling skills and canoe safety.
- Audubon educators will teach participants how to use binoculars to try and catch glimpses of the local flora and fauna that can be found within the Strawberry Mansion Reservoir’s unique urban aquatic ecosystem.
- As participants make their way around the reservoir in canoes, AMA guides will help spot wildlife and offer some interpretation of the history of the reservoir.
- POBS will offer coaching to help participants paddle and steer canoes efficiently and safely.
- Walk ups- registration is first come, first served!

- Other activities and opportunities to explore for those who may not want to canoe.
We Walk PHL is a program in partnership between Fairmount Park Conservancy, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation that offers free weekly walking groups at various public parks throughout the city. This program welcomes people of all ages and abilities looking to meet their neighbors and improve their physical and mental health.
Walk leaders will be there to greet & guide you. Let’s celebrate health and wellness in Philadelphia one step at a time!
