Mind blowing fact that will stick with you… maple syrup can be tapped from trees right here in hometown Philly!

Philadelphia, PA 19132
This long winter means it might not be too late to harvest the sweet, syrupy nectar from trees in our area in late March. Join us for a special syrup making workshop with Jethro Heiko of Oak Lane Maple, who will share his sweet story of success tapping many of our area’s trees to turn the sap into syrup.
Meet at Woodford Mansion (plenty of parking in rear driveway), and start with a short hike to some nearby sugar trees to learn about the ecological considerations and the sap tapping process. Then you’ll learn all about the boiling and refining process. The workshops ends on a tasty note with samples of the delicious varieties of locally produced syrup made by Oak Lane Maple.
TAKE HOME A SWEET TREAT! Spare yourself the long road trip to Vermont to get fresh tapped maple syrup… Oak Lane Maple will give away a jar of local syrup in exchange for a ticket donation of $15 or over.
Please note: Face masks are required.
This an outside event that includes a short hike- please dress appropriately.
TICKET PRICES: Please select an appropriate price point based on your financial means (all proceeds support the Fairmount Park Conservancy)
$10, $15, $20, or $25
** Donations over $15 get a complimentary bottle of Oak Lane syrup! **
IMPORTANT NOTE: We are tapping trees with the permission and guidance of our Natural Lands team for demonstration purposes only. Please DO try this at home in your own backyard, but DO NOT try this in the park. Tapping of trees and other forms of foraging/harvesting from the park’s natural areas is strictly forbidden.
