Join us on the stunning vista of the Belmont Plateau for a special solstice themed guided hike & yoga class that integrates sun salutations and other poses to welcome the longest day of the summer.

Meet at the Belmont Plateau and from there we’ll head into the woods for a short peaceful  hike in a portion of the Trolley Trail. We’ll stop at several points to meditate under the guidance of Cole Hooley, an experienced mindfulness instructor. Cole will help hone our ears  to nature’s sounds and connect our hearts to earth’s healing energy.

Next we’ll find a comfortable spot in the shade of an old shaggy bark hickory tree for an hour of yoga practice with an emphasis on sun salutations and other poses to honor the Solstice.

The summer solstice on June 21st signifies the longest, lightest day of the year and the start of our favorite season in Fairmount Park…. SUMMER! Dating all the way back to ancient times, the solstice marks the mystical, spiritually-heightened day when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky. Celebrated by many cultures and religions at festivals and ceremonies around the world, it honors a deep sense of devotion to nature, Mother Earth, and the energizing power of the sun. Yogis celebrate the empowering effects of this supercharged day and so can YOU!
