About the Strawberry Mansion Bridge:

The Strawberry Mansion Bridge is a steel arch bridge across the Schuylkill River near the Historic Strawberry Mansion. Located at Ford Drive and Strawberry Mansion Drive, the bridge serves as a link between East and West Fairmount Park, used by pedestrians, vehicles, horses, and bicycles. Dating back to the late 1800s – early 1900s, the bridge was shut down in 1996 after being declared unsafe due to severe deterioration. The Streets Department undertook restoration of the bridge and reopened it in 1999.  The Strawberry Mansion Bridge Restoration was nominated for and won the 2002 Preservation Achievement Award, given by the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia.
