Please join us to celebrate the student exhibition for the “My Park, My Neighborhood” summer photography camp for Strawberry Mansion youth. This is a pilot program created by Fairmount Park Conservancy, in partnership with East Park Revitalization Alliance, Strawberry Mansion Neighborhood Action Center, and Strawberry Mansion Learning Center.
In addition to student photographs, the exhibition will feature audio interviews with the participants, recorded by The New Community Project, an academic program that believes stories and storytelling are the catalyst for social justice. In this way, The New Community Project hopes to inspire and empower young people to impact their communities through critical thinking, mindful collaboration, and meaningful action. Rising Germantown Academy seniors Cobree Hooper and Tai Humphrey, Chidi Asoluka of The New Community Project, and Beth Uzwiak of Ethnologica will operate a recording station at the event to allow visitors to contribute their own stories.
Come and view students’ photographs, hear their stories, and enjoy free food and drinks! This event is open to the public, all are welcome!
