Time

8:00am - 10:00am

Location

Fairmount Park Horticulture Center
100 N. Horticulture Dr.
Philadelphia, PA 19131

Join local birders Katrina & Larry in partnership with Nicole from Fairmount Park Conservancy & WeWalkPHL for a free BIRD TALK — conversation and story-telling about the amazing hobby of birding!
We will discuss such topics as: why we love birds, our favorite birding moments, and more! As we talk, we will also keep our eyes peeled for any birds passing near our lovely meeting spot next to the Horticulture Center in beautiful West Fairmount Park.
Are you curious about birds but aren’t sure if it’s “for you”? We believe that birds are for EVERYONE. People of color have historically been excluded from nature and nature-focused activities. Being in nature and birding are for everyone!
FAQs
Do I need experience? Nope! All levels of experience are welcome. We want to hear from you!
Do I need my own binoculars? Nope! We have binoculars to lend out, thanks to the generous support of WeWalkPHL! (Supplies are limited, however, so if you have your own binoculars, please bring them!)
What if it rains? If it’s just a drizzle, we will press on! We will monitor the weather forecast and post updates here.
How do I get there? The Horticulture Center is accessible from SEPTA bus routes 38 and 40 as well as the 15 trolley. There are bike racks on site. Parking is available by the Horticulture Center and Shofuso Japanese House & Garden.
Are children welcome? Absolutely! It’s never too early to learn about birds!
Why is this event so EARLY in the morning? Early morning is the most active period for many birds. It’s also the coolest time of day!
